AAA Power Rankings Week 5
Last Updated Jan 8, 2006
How far will Centennial fall?? Enver makes an entrance into the top 15 and Pitt drops to HM.
Will update this on a weekly basis, most likely every Sun. Think your team should be higher, or included in the Power Rankings?? Send me an take at BCSportsFanatic@yahoo.ca
01. Saint George's Saints (1)
No action over the week but they're loading up getting ready for the stretch run here. So far have been more consistent than any other team. Only big loss so far coming against Centennial. I think the Saints are travelling to Ontario to play this week but I could be wrong.
02. Handsworth Royals (3)
Defended their title and did BC proud by beating Holy Cross in the finals of the BRIT in Saskatchewan. Play Argyle and West Van in exhibition play this week and an exhibition vs Centennial on Thu.
03. Kitsilano Blue Demons (4)
Played well at the Leagle Beagle with their only loss against Claremont. League game vs Eric Hamber coming up, should be an easy win there. An exhibition game vs Terry Fox on Fri, not sure if they are playing any tournaments this coming weekend.
04. Centennial Centaurs (2)
Lost 2 games and beat Maple Ridge at the Leagle Beagle. It's unknown how this team will bounce back from the loss of a key starter fro the rest of the season, but we shall soon find out in the coming weeks. 2 league games coming up vs Heritage Woods and Terry Fox. Not sure of any tournament action.
05. Claremont Spartans (6)
Lost to St. George's over the break by 10+. Not a bad showing if you ask me. The Spartans are in the Terry Fox tournament, first round matchup is vs top 10 Maple Ridge. Could move up to top 3 by winning the tournament.
06. Dover Bay Dolphins (7)
Lost to Kitsap, the Washington state team at the Victoria Prep Invitational. Coming to the mainland to compete in the Terry Fox tournament. First round matchup vs Brookswood. Also a big league game vs Wellington on Tue. Should win but Wellington is a dangerous team.
07. Brookswood Bobcats (5)
Got clobbered by Dover Bay but managed to salvage a win over MEI. Too inconsistent right now to be a top 5 team. They can beat the top 3 teams when Malish, Bath, and Pancratz are playing well. A couple of weak league games this week, not sure of any tournament action this weekend.
08. GP Vanier Towhees (9)
The Towhees won the Mt Douglas tournament beating the hosts in the final as expected. Couple of weak league games coming up before hosting their tournament this coming weekend. Don't know the draw, but expect they should be among the favorites.
09. Maple Ridge Ramblers (8)
As Casey goes, the Ramblers go. The Ramblers did not fare as well as they hoped at the Leagle Beagle this weekend. A big week coming up as the Ramblers are competing in the Pitt Meadows tournament this weekend.
10. Oak Bay Bays (10)
Reached the final of the Wellington tournament, don't know for sure but I'm assuming they won the tournament. Couple of weak league games, not sure if they are in any tournaments this coming weekend.
11. Enver Creek Cougars (NR)
The Cougars really came out of nowhere to shock everyone and win the Leagle Beagle tournament with huge wins over Centennial, Claremont, and WRCA. Kujo Jhajj and Kyle Grewal had fantastic games throughout and Jhajj was named Tournament MVP. Not sure where they play this coming week but they are definitely on the radar screen now.
12. Gleneagle Talons (11)
Crushed Charles Best in league action. No tournaments this week, not sure about next week.
13. Carson Graham Eagles (13)
The Eagles played some exhibition games vs an Australian team and a team from Alberta, results unknown. They will be playing in the Pitt Meadows tournament this coming weekend.
14. Pinetree Timberwolves (12)
Lost to AA Ladysmith by 1 in the Wellington tournament. 2 big league games coming up vs Pitt Meadows and Charles Best. A loss to either would drop them into Honorable Mention.
15. Killarney Cougars (14)
Couple of weak exhibition games that the Cougars won easily. They play Byng and Britannia in league play before heading to the Island to play at the Vanier tournament this coming weekend.
HM: MEI, Pitt Meadows, WRCA, Wellington, Churchill , Kelowna, North Delta
MEI was decent at the Leagle Beagle, lots of action coming up, we'll see how they fare. Pitt was disappointing at the BRIT in Saskatchewan, should've been in the finals vs Handsworth. WRCA surprised many reaching the finals of the Leagle Beagle, only win of note though was over Dover Bay. Wellington is in the finals of their tournament vs Oak Bay, not sure who won. Churchill won their own tournament on the weekend beating Port Moody.
