2005 HSBC Consolation
Centennial Centaurs (-8) vs Kitsilano Blue Demons (+8) O/U 110
Saturday - Dec. 10 @ 10:45am
UBC War Memorial Gym
Centennial Centaurs
Fatigue played a major factor in last nights loss to St. George's in the semi-finals. Playing their 7th game in 8 nights against the best teams in the province, the Centaurs simply ran out of gas. With an extra day of rest, the Centaurs will look forward to recharge and defeat Kitsilano again, a team they beat last weekend at the NSIT. The Centaurs look to D up on Ty Nurse and force him to put the ball on the floor. Samra looks to bounce back on offense after getting shutdown by the Saints. The Centaurs go 8-10 deep and have a versatile offense which they can adapt to the opponent they are playing. They can go down low with Samra, or take you outside with Balic and Sauciuc. Their depth should win them this game.
Kitsilano Blue Demons
The Blue Demons lost their semifinal match to Handsworth, a team they had beaten just last week. So far, the success of the Blue Demons rest solely on the shooting of Nurse and Cochrane. And why not, Nurse is arguably the best pure shooter in the province. However, this makes them one-dimensional, and the Centaurs have the athletes to stop Nurse and Cochrane. It may be time for the Blue Demons to start getting Woodham more involved in the offense. Defensively, the Blue Demons are fundamentally sound. Woodham is a solid low post presence and Nurse has some of the quickest hands I've seen and should be leading the Province in steals.

1 Comments:
Kits won 63-56. Kits jumped to a big lead early -- 26-8 after the 1st quarter. Cent outscored Kits in every other quarter, but not by enough to win. Kits/Cent games are competitive. But, both teams seemed a bit off their game after their semi-final losses.
