Pre-season AA Power Rankings
Last Updated Nov 26, 2005
Will update this on a weekly basis, most likely every Sun. Think your team should be higher, or included in the Power Rankings?? Send me an take at BCSportsFanatic@yahoo.ca As this is pre-season there will be a lot of movement in the next few weeks/month. Will be following tournament play and league play closely from week to week.
01. Prince Rupert Rainmakers (1)
I like the Rainmakers as the #1 with Agnew returning. They are in a weak division so their ranking may drop.
02. Clarence Fulton Maroons (2)
The Maroons have alot of experience returning and should stay in the top 3 all season long. Finished 3rd last year at Provincials, could go all the way this year.
03. Duchess Park Condors (3)
High ranking for a team that was unranked last year. Nathan Yu and Paul Burkholder will lead the team to the top of the tough North Central division. A tough schedule means they will be battle tested for Provincials.
04. St Thomas More Knights (4)
U16 players Denny Dumas and Karol Cybula could have the Knights going all the way. Wavered on whether they will play AA or AAA. Going AA will prove to be a good decision.
05. Ladysmith 49ers (5)
The Beast, Spencer Fyfe-Wilson looks to out-jump his opponents to the top of the Island division.
06. Westsyde Blue Wave (6)
Returns several key players. Will contend with Fulton for tops in the Interior division.
07. Hope Mustangs (7)
Early favorites to win out in the Fraser Valley. Return several key players including Forward Eric Williams.
08. Lambrick Park (8)
Last year's top-ranked team should still be able to hang with any of the top 10. Don't have a game-breaker though.
09. DP Todd Trojans (9)
Competes in the tough North Central division. Could drop from here depending on early season action.
10. College Heights Cougars (10)
Also competes in the tough North Central division. Early season action will determine if they are top 10 or not.
HM: Cedar, Notre Dame, Collingwood, Summerland
Cedar are the defending champions and return several players, waiting to see how much of an impact Galick's departure will affect the team before ranking them. Notre Dame returns several players that made it to last year's Provincials, lacks size though. Collingwood is the best from Howe Sound, waiting to see if they'll make an impact on Top 10. Summerland is a distant third behind Fulton or Westsyde but could sneak into the Provincials.

will sands have a good b-ball team? liek there football team was?
surprisingly they wont be bad. i heard they have some skill and a little bit of size in some positions..might just be a rumour though,
sands will be force in basketball but not as much as football
Probably because the Sands Basketball coaches aren't as good at recruiting players
... (just kidding, couldn't resist it, the last post almost cried out for a smartass comeback)...
lay of that but yea they should have a decent team this year they got alot of talent they football jus ended so i guess they'll be able to focus more onto basketball now and we will have to wait and see how they turn out
how far can they go?
I think McMath should be up there, there not near as strong as their team last year but great coaching will help them go far in AA
Duchess beat:
Fraser Lake 114-23
Kelly Road 76-70
PGSS 103-85
