Pre-season Review Week 1

Update, For all you BCCAA fans, here is a preview for the 05/06 season on Hooplife.ca. Also, in case you missed it, Pasha is out 6-8 weeks, and Casey is day-to-day, Ouch...

Update, AAA Power Rankings are out, AA Power Rankings out tomorrow. Also, in case you didn't catch it, here is the 05/06 preview I did for Hooplife.ca

As we get close to the start of the season, I'd like to do a quick scan of each region highlighting the top teams. The top teams will get their own page with more analysis of upcoming games/tournaments as well as a review of the previous week.

I've previewed the Big 2 Tournaments coming up:

North Shore Invitational Tournament
HSBC Classic

Will preview more tournaments as I gather more info and which teams will be at which tournaments. Stay tuned...


Fraser Valley

Central – Enver Creek, Princess Margaret, Fleetwood Park
East – Brookswood, MEI, WJ Mouat, Rick Hansen
North – Centennial, Pitt, Fox, Ridge, Port Moody, Pinetree, Gleneagle
West – North Delta, WRCA, Tamanawis

Couple of teams, Centennial, Pitt, and Fox are in the NSIT weekend of Dec 2/3. Brookswood, Centennial, are in the HSBC Dec 5-10. Pitt, Fox, Ridge, and Kits all competed in the Maple Ridge Tip-off this past weekend. Kits won all it's games, Ridge won 2, Pitt won 1, Fox lost all of their games.

Lower Mainland

Burnaby/NW – Burnaby Central, Burnaby South, New West
Independents – St. Georges, Vancouver College
Richmond – Boyd, Palmer, Richmond, Burnett
Vancouver – Kitsilano, Killarney, Magee, Lord Byng, Churchill

HSBC Classic of course the big tournament starting Dec 5-10. League play starts week of Nov 28.

Vancouver Island

North, North – Vanier, Carihi, Alberni
North, Mid-Island – Wellington, Cowichan, Ballenas
South – Claremont, Oak Bay, Mt Douglas

Several Island teams competing at the NSIT weekend of Dec 2/3 including Vanier, Wellington, and Oak Bay.

Howe Sound

Handsworth, Argyle, West Van, Carson Graham

Carson hosting the NSIT tournament weekend of Dec 2/3 featuring all 4 Howe Sound teams. Handsworth and Argyle are also in the HSBC Classic Dec 5-10.

Other Regions

Kelowna will be travelling to the Lower Mainland to compete in the NSIT tournament the weekend of Dec 2/3. Will see if they are a Top 10 team after meeting Top 10 competition.
