2006 AAA Islands Championships
Here is where I expect the teams to finish,
1. Claremont
2. Vanier
3. Oak Bay
4. Dover Bay
5. Wellington
6. Cowichan
7. Belmont
8. Stelly's
The best game of this tournament will be for that 3rd and final Provincial berth which I predict will be between Oak Bay and Dover.
I think the cream of the crop will rise out of these Championships and Claremont will bust out in a big way. Vanier will have a tough game vs Dover in the Semis, they've beaten weaker teams all season, we'll see if Cal Westbrook is ready to carry his team.
Oak Bay is probably the hottest team heading into these Championships. After a slow start they've really heated up winning some big games against ranked teams. They did well vs Claremont the other day losing by 8 in the City Championships.
Out of Wellington, Cowichan, Belmont, and Stelly's I would say Belmont probably has the best chance. But Cowichan is my dark horse, something about them just has me smelling upset. They've beaten good teams this season as well, but have been inconsistent.

dover will not meet vanier in the semis, they are on different sides of the draw
i dont mean to burst your bubble, but Oak bay and Dover cant meet in the 3rd place game unless Belmont upsets Dover Bay first round, Oak bay beats Cowichan, then loses to Belmont...and then at that other end vanier loses to claremont second round and loses to dover....i have the bracket drawn up if you wanna see, i dont know how to post though, its in .doc format....
dover has beaten Oak Bay twice in run up to tourney, they have beaten everyone but Claremont which went to over time despite three starters fouling out early
1. Claremont
2. Oak Bay
3. anybody except for carihi
Carihi won the challenge game between belmont and carihi, belmonts big man, Lee i think? wasnt playing because of a sore ankle, so that team won't be doing anything anymore
Predictions:
1. Claremont
2. Dover Bay
3. Welly, Oak Bay or Cow Pie
1/2 Claremont or Dover
3. Vanier
Dover Bay chokes again with Oak Bays sizzleing offense and stifling defense poor showing by Dover very poor
claremont actually lost to vanier tonight by 1 point, however they still have a shot at provincials if they can snag third place.
Claremont lost to cowichan, claremont is out!!!!!!!!!!! Vanier , Oak Bay are in, and I'm guessing Dover will make it. Craaaaaaaazy.
Final Standings:
1) Oak Bay
2) Vanier
3) Cowichan
Dover and Claremont were knocked out beforethe third place game, truly and exciting islands this year.
on a side note, back to back titles for both junior and senior Oak Bay boys basketball.
Claremont should have won the tourney if they didn't lose to vanier on that horrible call (Jamie AkA MR CLEAN) they would have had a chance of beating oak bay in the finals. Claremont deserve's to go to the BC's and have a chance at the title.
Brutal call on the ref when Claremont played against Vanier they got robbed... 3 seconds left the ball gets inbounded at half it gets dribbled down to the base line and the clock goes down to 1.8 seconds than after the missed free throw calvin takes a dribble than shoots it.
(b)BOTTEM LINE
THE DESERVE a chance to the BC title or at least go to BC's
hahaha, y'all claremont preppies are OUT!!!!! PEACE
how is that not a foul u idiot ..u could hear the slap from accross the game..i have it on footage and to put the icing on the cake when u rewind the video it shows it wasn't over and back
ya, it was an obvious foul, but once you get over that fact...THEY STILL COULD OF MADE PROVINCIALS, but in an ordinary game with no last second quesiton call they still LOST to cowichan...so if they break like they did in islands, giving up those 2 opportunities to go to provincials, then NO they DONT DESERVE to go, i mean nobody is saying cowichan played some great ball, its all claremont got jipped...ya they got jipped cuz brandan is an idiot
carihi got cheated
Carihi got better through the season and if i saw the standings properly only lost to the four teams in the north islands that were ranked provincially on the island.
