2005 AAA Season Review Week 8

Check out the feature article on DriveBasketball.com I did on Levon Kendall who is a starting forward for the University of Pittsburgh Panthers and former Kitsilano Blue Demon.

Updated the
AAA Power Rankings.

No major Tournaments this week but there were several huge league games and exhibition games during the week such as St. Georges/Kitsilano, Handsworth/Brookswood, Handsworth/Oak Bay, and Centennial/Maple Ridge. Kelowna tournament this upcoming weekend is the big tournament upcoming.

Tournaments this week:

Island Showdown - PACIFIC CHRISTIAN AND GLENLYON-NORFOLK (Victoria)

Tournaments next week:

Western Canada Tournament - KELOWNA

Fraser Valley

1. Centennial
2. Brookswood
3. WRCA
4. Enver Creek
5. Maple Ridge
6. Gleneagle
7. Pitt Meadows
8. Fleetwood Park
9. MEI
10. North Delta

HM: Terry Fox, Pinetree, Port Moody, Tamanawis

Centennial still tops the FV and has been the most consistent throughout the season. Big wins over Gleneagle and Maple Ridge this week in league play. Brookswood won their league games vs MEI and Yale and came a couple of points shy of upsetting Handsworth. Maple Ridge beat Gleneagle in league play. Fleetwood lost to Queen Elizabeth although a few starters were missing reportedly. Big news for Pitt is that one of their starting forwards is not longer with the team, that will definitely have an impact. Couple of weeks left in the season, really looking forward to the FV playoffs.

Fraser Valley Preview Week 8

Lower Mainland

1. St. Georges
2. Kitsilano
3. Killarney
4. Magee
5. Churchill
6. Burnaby Central
7. Lord Byng
8. Vancouver College
9. Hugh Boyd
10. Burnaby South

HM: New West, Palmer

St. Georges beat Kitsilano in the game of the week on Wed. It was close but the Saints were able to keep Ty Nurse in check. Heard Paul Woodham had a huge game for Kits, they'll need him to be big if they want a shot at the Championship. Killarney still widely inconsistent, they apparently lost to AA Cedar last week. Magee could surprise, had a good league game vs Kits losing by a few buckets. Dropped Prince of Wales and added Palmer, looks like Akeem Pierre is back and they could surprise some.

Lower Mainland Preview Week 8

Vancouver Island

1. Claremont
2. Dover Bay
3. Vanier
4. Oak Bay
5. Cowichan

HM: Wellington, Belmont, Stelly's

Trying to decipher the results from this week's action on the Island. The bottom line being that Dover, Vanier, Oak Bay, Cowichan, Wellington are all capable of beating one another on any given night. Cowichan has is a team that could sneak into the provincials with an upset win or 2. Moved Oak Bay up a spot with their outstanding game vs Handsworth where they lost by a game winning shot from Handsworth's Scott Leigh. Time will tell if they should move higher, they seem to be peaking at just the right time. Claremont the clear #1 on the Island, they have consistently beat everyone.

Vancouver Island Preview Week 8

Howe Sound

1. Handsworth
2. West Vancouver
3. Argyle
4. Carson Graham

West Van beat Argyle then Carson this week in league action. PG Pat Clarke of the Highlanders could be one of the most underrated players in the province let alone the North Shore. Most of the team are Juniors so watch out next year. Argyle is young and improving. Carson is pretty much out of it at this point. Handsworth survived a couple of scares including a thriller vs Oak Bay. Sacre still dominating his opponents.

Howe Sound Preview Week 8

Other Regions

Kelowna beat South Kam in a close one, Okanagan playoffs could be interesting. Kelly Road came in 2nd losing a close one to Duchess at the Prince George Tournament.
