Richmond vs Hugh Boyd

The Colts and Trojans squared off on Monday night to determine the top seed for AAA Richmond. The crowd had swelled beyond the limited seating with standing room only in what was the most anticipated game of the season for both Richmond teams thus far. Richmond beat Palmer in the semis in what could have been deemed a mild upset. Hugh Boyd looked every bit the top seed on their way to the final. The Colts are led by Gr.10 Provincial player transfer from McNair Gurjotte Jhaj, the Trojans by the highly talented yet underrated Alex White.

The game started out full of energy from both teams as they exchanged baskets in an uptempo up and down game. Key matchup started out with Jhaj and White going head-to-head, Jhaj coming out on top early in the game. As the first quarter went on, the Trojans started to get physical, putting the body on the less physical Colts. Then the Colts got into foul trouble trying to match the Trojans toughness with cheap reach in fouls. With Nick Soper, they're most effective big man on the bench, White and the Trojans began stretching out the lead. #7 (sorry, don't know his name) was starting to become a major factor for the Trojans with his quickness and aggressive play. Jhaj could not match the physical play and resorted to 3 pointers but couldn't pull his team back. By halftime, the Trojans led by 20+.

The Colts did not figure in at any point after. The Trojans had intimidated the Colts with their physical aggressive play, and the Colts wilted. The final score was 100+ to 70+ for Hugh Boyd. The Trojans capture the top seed for AAA Richmond. Watching the game, the Trojans are a balanced team capable of running the floor as good as any. Alex White is one of the most complete players I've seen this year, he can defend, shoot the 3, drive. His only downside is his size, somewhere around 6 feet. As for the Colts, they finish as the #2 seed in AAA Richmond. I don't see them doing anything in the Lower Mainlands as they lack the size and toughness to beat the top teams, they need to hit the weights and come back stronger next year.

hugh boyd sucks, and so do the colts. These teams aren't in the top 15. i think its a bit of a stretch to say hugh boyd can run the floor as good as any team. do u think alex white would have that performance against, kits or saints or handswerth, with murphy or cochran or leigh guarding him?? i don't think so. Those players would make alex white look below average. He only appeared good in that game becuase of the sub par competition.

gurjote isn't the best player on richmond high, david whitley is. soper isn't the most effective big man either, he's a big idiot that just stands outside and shoots, that is if he gets off the bench
