2006 AA Provincial Championships

All the seedings and matchups are set for the big dance this week in Kamloops. You can catch all the schedules and scores from the official BC AA Provincial Championship website.

Round 1

Collingwood vs Lambrick Park
Fernie vs Prince Rupert
Ladysmith vs DP Todd
LV Rogers vs Westsyde
Hope vs Sahali
St Thomas More vs Sentinel
Clarence Fulton vs Pacific Academy
Duchess Park vs Britannia

Quarterfinals

Lambrick Park vs Prince Rupert
Ladysmith vs Westsyde
Hope vs St Thomas More
Fulton vs Duchess Park

Semifinals

Prince Rupert vs Ladysmith
St Thomas More vs Duchess Park

Final Game

Ladysmith vs Duchess Park

The tournament won't really begin until the final four. It would take a monumental collapse if Ladysmith and Duchess Park both didn't make the final four. As for Prince Rupert and St Thomas More, I feel more confident in STM. Rupert has not had a lot of games vs ranked teams but the ones they played, they did well.

The Final game will be a great one. Neither team has gone head to head so the game could really go either way. It's tough to say one team is better than the other but Duchess has beaten more ranked teams and played very well against AAA teams as well.

Other teams to watch out for are Sahali, Westsyde, Hope, PA and Collingwood. Fulton was a frontrunner early in the season but faded late in the season and barely made the Tournament.

Notable absentee teams include Cedar, Gulf Islands, Vernon, St. Michaels, Southridge and Sutherland.

Players to watch include:

- Nathan Yu from Duchess Park who will be MVP should Duchess win it all
- Connor Agnew from Prince Rupert
- Denny Dumas and Karol Cybula for STM
- Chris Vaukeweide and Spencer Fyfe-Wilson for Ladysmith
- Eric Williams from Hope

Good luck to all players/coaches next week.

LETS GO LAMBRICK

Best Game of the First Round

Sahali/Hope - Even though Sahali is a higher seed, Hope has to be favoured, based on age. My prediction is overtime.

Best Potential Game of the Second Round

Westsyde/Ladysmith - Westsyde will play Ladysmith very tough, and if they stay out of foul trouble, (MIGHT) be able to pull off a shocker. But have to stay out of trouble, something that they have had problems doing.

Best Player at the Tournament - Nathan Yu

Final - Ladysmith/Duchess Park - Duchess Park seems to be a team of destiny.

haha, nathan yu isn't the best grade 11 watch denny rip that kid a new one in semis, i watched there provincial team play in the summer and there is no way nathan can guard denny

From the summer till now, any player can improve by leaps and bounds.

At 7:56 PM, February 27, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

hey what position does nathan yu play?

At 9:33 PM, February 27, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

nate's a combo guard, he's naturally more of a point, but for duchess he plays more of a 2

collingwoods whole team is based around #10(jonathan kemp gee), they actually have no one else.

collingwood isnt very good at all, howe sound is really really weak that john guy isnt even that great, sentiel sucks to, they will both loose first round, and he bcsportsfantic are u gonna be there watching the provinals??????

Provincials will be weak this year. A lot of strong teams were suffering injuries and illnesses, Princess Margaret for example, had three main players that werent 100%, if those guys were healthy they would've been strong contenders, they have two of the most dynamic and versatile players in the okanagan valley, #31 and #21 and have depth. Tough sometimes the way things work out

^^HAHA LOL PMS

At 8:12 AM, March 01, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Princess Margaret would have lost every game. Do you honestly think they are good enough to be there? Who are they better than? Sa-hali? Westsyde? Fulton? Yeah right.

Collingwood beat Lambirck?!?!
LV Rogers beat Westsyde?!?!
Sentinel beat Hope?!?!
Ladysmith only beat LV Rogers by 16?!?!

denny dumas better than nathan yu

At 10:09 PM, March 03, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

So ladysmith is rated #1 for a reason. Every team that they have played in the provincials this year they could have beaten by at least 30, but they always play their bench in the last quarter. I predict a close game between them and dutchess park.

Number 20(jew fro) from Lv rodgers is a little dink. He definatley likes to lip people off. I don;t know haow he can when he has nothing to back it up with. All he can do is go right and lip.

who's dylan borgerson and what team does he play for

Hudson Naylor is amazing as a grade 10, I wonder how much better he will get though, he is good now but the question is if he can improve on what he allready has.

At 5:18 PM, March 04, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

hudson naylor is the best grade ten, I'm not sure about his work ethic though

At 8:35 PM, March 04, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

best grade 10?

dimitri harris, anyone?

At 3:41 PM, March 05, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Dimitri Harris is ten times better then Hudson Naylor, Hudson missed everything he shot against Hope

At 3:44 PM, March 05, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Dimitri did not impress me at all when he played against duchess, only scoring 5 points, and gettign shut down by their grade 10 sam raphael

At 7:18 PM, March 05, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Id say Jesse brown ovr denny dumas

At 9:38 PM, March 05, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

no way! Jesse first of all is a year older, but Denny is still way better. Believe me after playing both of them I can tell you it was alot harder to stop Denny then Jesse. Jesse is good and all but he really can't do much other than penetrate. Denny is just good at everything. And jesse has a horrible attitude

At 5:26 PM, March 06, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

denny is better, and hudson is better than demitri

dylan borgerson plays for ladysmith, put up a couple 50 sports in juniors and averaged around 40 through the year until teams started triple teaming him, this kid is nutz, cant wait to see him mature.

At 12:51 AM, March 07, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

nathan yu, denny dumas?? who cares, the kid from ladysmith, chris vanderweide, is nutz. he showed alot of heart and lead his team to the championship, he was tourny mvn and got ripped off, nathan yu admitted it to his face, maybe you should start talking about him, hes got game and could ball circles around these people.

At 8:38 AM, March 07, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

chris is good, no doubt about it, but he's the product of a ladymsith system where the best player WILL average 30+ (David Robinson?)... and Nate did say that Chris got ripped off, but that's because he's very humble when it comes to that he HATES excepting awards and ALWAYS tries to have somebody else take them, be it someone on his team, or soeone on somebody elses team, Chris scored a lot of points, he also missed a lot of shots, and bottom line is he didn't take his team to the promised land, nate did

At 3:27 PM, March 07, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous said...

well thats partly true, expect the fact that it wasnt just nate brought them their, he had a supporting cast better then any other team. matt forster and the other guy who won defencive player, also their big guy was a surprise for how good he played. thats 4 out of 5 starters who could score or be the team leader, dutch was the only one on the team and led the team and was the best player in the tourny, give him 3 other players who can make plays and ladysmith wins AAA. Dutch deserved mvp but the fact that the team couldnt help him to get the championship as much as dutchess' players helped nathan stopped dutch from getting mvp even tho he deserved it.
