2005 AAA Season Review Week 3

Next Update will be in the New Year. Look for detailed writeups of the top teams and top players over the break.

Updated the AAA Power Rankings.

Tournaments this week:

Dominos' Invitational
- ST. GEORGE'S (Vancouver)
Talon Challenge - GLENEAGLE (Coquitlam)
Bob Gair Classic - NEW WESTMINSTER
HawkBall 2005 - W.J. MOUAT (Abbotsford)

Tournaments next week:

Port Moody Christmas Classic
Eagles' Holiday Classic - M.E.I. (Abbotsford)

Big tournament action of the week was at the St. George's tournament on Wed and Thu. Centennial thumped St. George's in the final, splitting their head-to-head matchups to 1-1. Reports indicate that Chris McKay was out for the Saints which if true would've been a major factor in keeping Centaur's Center Paul Samra in check. New West tournament did not feature any top 10 teams but will impact rankings nonetheless.

Fraser Valley

1. Centennial
2. Brookswood
3. Maple Ridge
4. Gleneagle
5. Pinetree
6. Pitt Meadows
7. WRCA
8. North Delta
9. Tamanawis
10. Terry Fox

HM: Enver Creek, MEI, Port Moody, Charles Best

Centennial with a busy week, first they survived a scare against Charles Best. Sam Freeman had one hell of a game vs the Centaurs. Then the Centaurs played and won the St. George's Tournament beating St. George's handily in the Final game. Awaiting the results of Brookswood's league games, should be 3 easy victories. Pinetree won their league game vs Westview. Gleneagle hosted a tournament over the weekend, beat Carson in the finals. Tamanawis won both their league games easily, same with Fox. WRCA played some exhibition games losing to Kitsilano earlier in the week but winning over Mt Rainer from Wash St. North Delta was idle. Port Moody won their league game vs Riverside before playing in the New West tournament this weekend, they lost to Killarney in the first round and New West in the second.

Fraser Valley Preview Week 3

Lower Mainland

1. St. Georges
2. Kitsilano
3. Killarney
4. Churchill
5. Magee
6. New West
7. Burnaby Central
8. Lord Byng
9. Burnaby South
10. Burnett

HM: Palmer, Richmond, Prince of Wales

St. George's is still by far the #1 team in the LM, although they've lost some momentum this weekend losing out to Centennial in their own tournament. Kitsilano beat WRCA in exhibition action. Killarney won both league games easily over Thompson and Britannia, then they went in to the New West tournament beating New West and Port Moody but losing to Vanier. Churchill and Magee played league games both winning easily. New West played a league game vs Burnaby South, results unknown, email me if you know. New West then hosted a tournament which saw them beat Port Moody but losing to Killarney. Burnaby Central beat Burnaby North easily. Byng won their league game and was in the Notre Dame tournament, results unknown. Burnaby South played New West, don't know who won though. Prince of Wales lost a close one to Britannia but beat Windermere easily. Finally, Burnett beat Palmer in a close game in the final of the Sutherland tournament with Burnett beating Brittania and Sentinel, Palmer beats Tupper and Sutherland along the way.

Lower Mainland Preview Week 3

Vancouver Island

1. Claremont
2. Dover Bay
3. Vanier
4. Oak Bay
5. Belmont

HM: Wellington, Mt Douglas, Cowichan

Claremont played last weekend and won the Cowichan tournament beating some good teams in Dover, Oak Bay, Belmont, Lambrick and Shawnigan. I'm assuming Dover beat Nanaimo in league play, also playing in the round-robin Lambrick Tournament this weekend, results unknown. Vanier came to the LM to play in the New West tournament beating Port Moody and an impressive win over Killarney. Oak Bay is in the Lambrick Tournament, so is Mt Douglas. No info for Belmont, Wellington and Cowichan this week.

Vancouver Island Preview Week 3

Howe Sound

1. Handsworth
2. Carson Graham
3. Argyle
4. West Vancouver

Handsworth was idle this week. Carson played in the Gleneagle tournament losing to Gleneagle in the Final Game. Also played Mt Rainer in an exhibition game on Sat vs Mt Rainer and won easily. Argyle played and beat Mt Rainer from Wash St in exhibition play. West Vancouver was in the St. George's tournament, results unknown, would've played Enver Creek, and St. Georges.

Howe Sound Preview Week 3

Other Regions

I was mistaken last week, Kelowna was not idle, they played in the Chilliwack Tournament including wins over Sardis and top-ranked Ross Sheppard from Alberta. This week they were in the Penticton Tournament, judging from the draw, they should win that one as well.

Other regions Preview Week 3
