2005 AAA Howe Sound Preview

The emergence of several strong programs have fueled the growth and success of the Howe Sound region. With only 1 guaranteed Provincial berth, the fight is on from the start of the whistle.

Howe Sound

Projected Finish:
1. Handsworth Royals (North Vancouver)
2. West Vancouver Highlanders (West Vancouver)
3. Argyle Pipers (North Vancouver)
4. Carson Graham (North Vancouver)
5. Sentinel Spartans (West Vancouver)

The obvious favorite is Handsworth with top prospect Rob Sacre leading the way. The Royals are a #1 or #2 ranked team heading into the pre-season and favored to go all the way. West Van is a good team with good up and coming talent. With the strength of the Fraser Valley, it's likely that only Handsworth will earn a berth to the Provincial Tournament.

releasing 1 zone a week until Nov...

I don't expect that Asian guy on Carson will be much of a factor. Remember, he probably hasn't played much organized basketball at a high level.

whens the other divisions comin out?

Hey Fanatic, give your head a shake. The Asian guy was invited to the Nike All-Asia camp (Top 40 of China, Taiwan, Japan, N & S Korea, Phillipeans etc..)He is competing at the Center for Performance with our best. Is that high enough level for you? Carson is getting calls from Prep Schools and Mid Level Div 1 schools about this guy. Do you really think he will not make a difference?

The key difference still for me is that he's never played at the BC High School level EVER. I don't care about All-Asian Nike blah blah blah. He's going to have to adjust to the BC High School level. There's different rules, different style of play (lots of trapping, etc...). I don't think he's ever seen that before.

Also, I don't see his name anywhere on Scout.com or Rivals.com so until that time, he's simply an intruiging prospect, that's it.

Other than Willie Galick right? Cause that guy can dunk as good as man in Toronto. Besides, Fred Hoiberg made the NBA.

no way chang lin will be that big of a factor, especially since carson is garbage.

crason killed sentinal and argyle in spring league and they only lost by 1 against westvan with all their players there. your telling me a 6'8" guy on the all asian nike team wouldn't make a difference. give me one reason why carson won't kill westvan this year and give handsworth a run for their money

i agree carson isn't that great but they would be westvan or argyle any day

Carson is the biggest joke ever, doesnt matter if they got some asian guy whos good, rest of the team is shit, too bad Donahoe couldnt recruit some decent players. Argyle will beat them, Handsworth will beat them, West Van will beat them, simple as that

For all you Handsworth and Carson lovers, watch out for West Van. They've been given respect and a top 10 ranking simply on the basis of word of mouth, so just wait till they prove it on the court. By far, they have the most balanced and deep team in the province. Sacre and Leigh are great players, and that Asian guy can be Yao Ming for all I care... both of those teams have players, not a solid team.

If you don't wanna believe me, may I remind you that Wellington almost won it all last year. And they didn't have Kepkay, Mara, Malish or any elite player.

What is happening at West Van? I heard their coach from last year is out! If they are such a great team why wouldn't he want to be at the controls?

alright i have played with this asian guy that u guys keep talking about and hes good he can dunk but hes not amazing i find myself wondering how he made all asia camp, he should deffinetly be someone to watch out for and i think with the right training he could take carson pretty far i think he just has to adjust and in no time he will be killing everyone

haha if u guys think lin is the only guy carson has u guys are in for surprise.....the only team they lost was west van by 1 in the finals last year for spring league....and now they have lin.......u guys ask how he made asian nike camps...cuz this guy is 6"8 and at those camps he played shooting guard not post...so thuis guys can shoot 3's fadeaways...he can dunk drive drible ....thats how he made it

At 11:38 AM, November 26, 2005, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Darian's still playing basketball this year

Carson sucks, doesnt matter how they do in spring league, every year there the only team trying to win with other teams jacking around. If any of the carson guys think that spring league is an indication of how good a team is think again, all spring league does is let guys play and shoot the three ball whenever they want
